Holy cow, I’m still riding the high from being published for the first time. Check out my article in Thought Catalog: 5 Not-So-Obvious Tips for Staying Present on Your Wedding Day.
Let me rewind…
It’s Saturday morning. Andrew and I had just gotten back from a run. After finishing my meditation and adding a few drops of lemon essential oil to my diffuser, I excitedly sat down to crank out a full day of work. When I popped open my laptop, I saw an email from Thought Catalog with the subject line: Your article just went live! Hands shaking, I clicked on the email and here’s what it read:

I was STUNNED. Before I clicked on any of the links, I ran over to Andrew and shoved the computer in his face to make sure I wasn’t dreaming.
“ARE YOU SERIOUS?” he said excitedly.
“I don’t know! Do they just publish anything that gets submitted?” I asked (classic imposter syndrome!).
“NO!” he responded.
I hurriedly sat down next to him on the coach and together, hearts beating fast, we clicked on the link. There, before our very eyes, was my first published piece (you can find the full article here)
I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. I kept looking at the page in awe of the fact I had written something that was “good enough” to be published. As soon as I processed the fact that this wasn’t a mistake, I leaped off the couch and started jumping for joy. Andrew joined me and we spent the next few moments jumping up and down together.“You know what this calls for?” he asked.
Oh I knew. See, there is really only one way that I like to celebrate…and that is by DANCING.
When the song was over, I was so overwhelmed with emotion that I started to cry. Tears of joy streamed down my face as I looked at him and said “IT’S HAPPENING!”
Wrapping me up in a big hug, he smiled back and said “Proud of you, love.”
It was a moment I will never forget.
