just for funsies
There have been SO many cool things leading up to the launch that I wanna tell you about!!!
And a number of my favorite celebs have said YES to receiving a copy of the deck (is this real life?!!). Here’s the incredible lineup:
Sandra Oh: I am still so utterly starstruck that the Queen herself wants to see my work. Her speech when she gets on the megaphone and says “It’s an honor just to be Asian!” was the inspiration for the Nine of Wands card in my deck.
Chanel Miller: a beautiful writer, a brilliant artist, the embodiment of self-love. She shared a comic after the Atlanta spa shooting that inspired The Chariot card in my deck.
Ashley Park: her portrayal of Audrey in Joy Ride hit me in the feels. And as a road trip-inspired deck for Asian women, including her seemed meant to be!
Sherry Cola: I’ve been a fan of hers since Good Troubleand it’s been fun to see her blow up with Joy Ride this past summer. She did a spoken word piece during the height of anti-Asian hate crimes that deeply moved me & gave me courage to create art out of pain.
Naomi Osaka: her Netflix documentary is fire and I resonated so much with what she shared about being mixed Asian. She reminds me that strength comes in many forms, which inspired The Strength card in my deck.
Momona Tomada: she plays Claudia Kishi on The Baby-Sitters Clubon Netflix. Many of the cards in the deck are Claudia Kishi-inspired so this felt kismet!
Amrit Kaur: I freaking loved Sex Lives of College Girls and it was so refreshing to see a messy, imperfect Asian character like Bela on the big screen. Since empowering women is at the core of The Adventure Tarot, I’m stoked she’ll be a part of it.
What an overwhelming few weeks this has been. I didn’t even know I was allowed to dream this big.
“Promoting” myself has been confronting and emotional and extremely uncomfy. But you all have received me with such love and grace and I am so very grateful. Thank you for celebrating with me, the best gift of all.
