Happy Summer Solstice everyone!
This is such a F-U-N time of the year. Not only does it mark the beginning of summer, BBQs and after-dinner walks but it’s also a great time to reflect! To check in with yourself on how you are feeling about the year so far and where you want to go from here.
I took some time to reflect on the vision board I created with my 2017 New Year’s intentions (I don’t set resolutions or goals anymore). And I wanted to share my thoughts with all of you!
*I desired more fun and play – After feeling so burned out from wedding planning last year, I wanted this year to feel “lighter.” The biggest shift I’ve made is weaving more dance into my life. Who said workouts could only be done on the treadmill?! I’ve been going to hip hop classes, Nia dance classes and just dancing around my apartment whenever the mood strikes. It has felt SO good to reconnect to this playful side of me.
*I desired to feel more grounded and present– I desperately wanted to feel more grounded after the chaos wedding planning. Do I meditate every day? No. But I am making the effort to try! I have a subscription to the meditation app Calm and am also participating in an awesome 21-day mindfulness series (let me know if you are interested and I’ll give you detes!). Little by little, I feel like I’m able to be more mindful on the reg and that feels good.
*I desired to remember that everything is a choice and to accept whatever I choose – This was a big lesson that I learned during the wedding planning process. It was such an a-ha moment when I realized if I didn’t want to invite certain people, I didn’t have to! If I didn’t want a wedding cake, I didn’t have to! If I didn’t want to change my name, I didn’t have to! What?! I feel like our society has convinced us with so many things, wedding or otherwise, that we “have to” or “should” do something. But as your Woula, I am here to remind you that we ALWAYS have a choice. Always. It might be a hard, sad or excruciatingly painful choice, but it’s our choice to make. The practice is owning and accepting our choice (more to come on this later)
*I desired to believe in myself and to trust myself – This one is really hard for me! It requires me to let go of my intense need to feel in control, for things to go as planned and to “understand” everything. I am learning how to trust my intuition and to trust that some things don’t make sense until you’ve arrived on the other side.
*I desired to have more sleep, ease, relaxation and balance in my life– I had gotten sick so many times last year planning our wedding that I really wanted to focus on taking care of myself and catching up on way too many hours of lost sleep. I am such an offender of over-extending myself and running myself into the ground when the to-do list seems endless. For any of you who watched my live video last week, you can see that I still have some work to do in this department! But incorporating more self-care into my daily routine is high priority for me.
*I desired to be open to unconventional wisdom and to imagine another perspective – I was blessed to cross paths with Lexi D’Angelo who has been such an incredible mentor to me I joined her Biz Woo School in March, an online school for female entrepreneurs that melds business and spirituality, and it has completely transformed my life. I am forever grateful.
*I desired to have more gatherings and be in community– helllllllo to you all!
*I desired to be the light that nourishes others and to let the light of others nourish me – I didn’t even have the idea for this business at the time I created this vision board (which is hard for me to even believe!!). I just knew that what brings me the most joy in life is having deep, meaningful conversations with women and empowering them to lead the best lives possible. Having just received my first piece of junk mail to Elizabeth Su, LLC, I have goosebumps to think how far I’ve come with this intention. I am SO lit up about this biz and cannot wait to see what the second half of this year brings!!!
I want to hear from you!
–When you think about the first half of the year, what are you most excited about?
–As we enter the second half of the year, where would you like to focus your attention?
