“How did you know you had found ‘the one’?”

Ahhhh, the timeless question! I used to get giddy with excitement when my friends would ask me this question because I could rattle off a million reasons why I love my husband so much including our mutual obsession with Mat Kearney, the fact we have survived two cross-country road trips together, and our silent agreement to time our Costco trips just right so we could fill up on samples for lunch.

What I’ve learned over the years is that true love goes far beyond shared interests. It even goes beyond shared values. True love is all about how expansive the other person makes you feel. How being with this person increases your capacity to feel joy, express yourself and be who you are meant to be.

When you feel free to be yourself in your relationship, something magical happens. You see a whole new world of possibilities. You blossom into the best version of yourself. You learn the sweetest definition of *home.*

That is what true love is all about. That is how you know you if you have found ‘the one.’
