Word of the Week: Celebration
Life Lesson:
WE MADE HERSTORY. I’m *exhaling* for the first time in a while. Our country has chosen the first female VP, the first WOC VP. I have a lot of feels that I can’t put into words just yet but on the top of the list is how excited I am that my 99-year-old feminist grandma gets to see a female VP in her lifetime. Kamala Harris was literally the ray of hope that kept her alive.
As the saying goes, “You can’t be what you can’t see.” Having Kamala as our country’s VP will forever change the narrative of what WOC are capable of. As a biracial Asian American woman who had very few role models of people in power who looked like me, I tear up when I think about what Kamala’s election means for future generations.
Let’s not forget, though, that last week was intense. Actually, the last four years have been intense. For all of you empaths, remember that you feel the energy of the collective. And if you’re as much a sponge as I am, last week might have left you feeling run down, achy, nauseous, scattered, or overwhelmed simply because of what was happening in the world.
Be gentle with yourself. Even though things may feel lighter now (thank goodness!), it’s still important to take care of your mind-body-spirit. Go for a walk, join me for one of my IG live dance parties, play with your pet, watch re-runs of Schitt’s Creek, numb out on cute puppy photos or take a bath. Self-care is vital on the activist journey. In fact, I’d argue that self-care is a form of activism.
This is just the beginning of a long road of healing ahead. But today, we celebrate!
Ask Yourself: What can I do to love on myself today?

Speaking of self-care, here’s an adorable Corgi with the fluffiest wiggle you’ll ever see.
Bonus:
Lost sleep last week because of this election? Dr. Bach Rescue Remedy Sleep Melts are so delightful and have helped me sleep and deal with the election anxiety—it also tastes like sunshine 🌞 in your mouth.
Take care of you this week,
