āI grew up never seeing myself on-screen, and it’s really important to me to give people who look like me a chance to see themselves. I want to see myself as the hero of any story. I want to see myself save the world from the bomb.ā

#REALTALK
Embracing My Inner Teen: Yāall, I GOT MY NOSE PIERCED. This might not seem like a big deal, but for me, it was a balm to my teenage soul. TBH, I feel like I never really got to be a teen. Sure, I was still excluded and awkward and a brat to my parents like most teens are. But I was such a big fat rule-follower that I feel like I missed out on opportunities to really be myself. I talk a lot about doing inner child workāloving on Little Eābut lately, Iāve been feeling drawn to nurture Teen E. Sheās the one who is so happy to finally have the courage to be WHOEVER THE F*CK SHE WANTS.
Repeat after me: I am allowed to be whoever I want.
Being Silly: When I worked in corporate, I used to exclusively paint my nails some sad version of light pink. When I quit, I went black for a year. For several years after that, I fluctuated between maroon and hot pink, sometimes with glitter. My nail journey has been such a funny reflection of my mood at the time. A few weeks ago, for my sisterās wedding, I decided to hop on the multi-colored nail train even though I knew some people would probably think it wasnāt tasteful. Iāve been yearning for more color and joy in my life and, of course, keeping Teen E in mind, I wanted all-in on the Lisa Frank vibe. But immediately after I got them done, I was tortured with insecurity. I thought to myself: You look so silly! But then I remembered: Thatās the point!
Dear Self,
Being silly is good for the soul.

WARM AND FUZZIES
Asian Enough Podcast Episode with Sandra Oh
I just love Sandra Oh so much and have mad appreciation for how she shows up for the Asian community. This podcast episode really hit me in the feels, especially when Sandra talks about the importance of taking up space. Speaking of nurturing our inner teen, sometimes expressing anger is a good thing! Anger = boundaries are crossed. Anger = how we fuel change. Anger = sacred.
