Are you gripping onto a job even though it makes you miserable? Do you find yourself staying friends with people you’ve outgrown? Curious how decluttering can help you find your purpose?
💫
I am grateful to share my thoughts in Elite Daily around why cleaning can be a beautiful practice of non-attachment and how getting rid of things that don’t matter to you helps you realize what does.
As quoted:
“Elizabeth Su, a life coach, mindfulness expert, and certified yoga teacher, explains how important this mindset is in relieving stress. “Cleaning can be a beautiful practice of non-attachment and realizing that we are not defined by the things that surround us,” she tells Elite Daily. “You can learn a lot about yourself by the simple act of decluttering and paying attention to what things truly hold meaning in your life.”
🌿
I am a HUGE fan of Marie Kondo and her KonMari method of only keeping things in your life that spark joy. When I read her book “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up,” I had a lightbulb moment that made me realize my closet wasn’t the only thing that could use a little tidying. I needed to tidy up my entire life.
⚡️
What began as a simple spring cleaning turned into a deep reflection of the people, places, beliefs, and patterns in my life. I began to ask myself:
🌈Does my job spark joy?
🌈Do the relationships in my life spark joy?
🌈Which relationships was I holding onto because I was scared to let them go?
🌈What beliefs no longer serve me?
🌈What parts of my life am I attached to just because I’m afraid of change?
💛
If you want to dive into this further, come join me on November 10 at Maha Rose Center for Healing to learn how to conduct your very own Joy Audit. It’s one of my favorite exercises to get clear on what’s truly important to you and how to manage your time and energy accordingly.
Bottom line: we don’t have to overengineer this thing. We just have to clear away the clutter enough to see what’s shining brightly beneath it all.
